WHY YOU MIGHT COME AND SEE US

At Lenzie Psychology, we treat everyone as an individual.

Ideally you would be clear about where you want to get to and how to get there. Maybe you just need a bit of support with that.

You will no doubt have tried to sort things out for yourself already. You might have asked others for help in the past but did not find this worked out as well as you had hoped.

Maybe you know the kind of support you want, but cannot access it as soon or as often as you would like.

Whatever the reason, you need support and we can help you straight away.

WHAT HAPPENS AT A SESSION?
You will be seen in one of our comfortably furnished rooms.

Your issues will be talked over in privacy.

You will be seen on a 1:1 basis unless you prefer to be seen in a group.

You will be allowed to focus on the issues that are most important to you.

You will be seen for about an hour.

You will be encouraged to do work between sessions, even if that something is small.

An appointment will be made for the next session.

HOW LONG DOES TREATMENT
TAKE

There are lots of factors that feed in to this, for example, how many things you need support with, how complex these are, how motivated you feel and so on.

Most people see us for between 6-8 sessions, but it can be more or less.

It's important that it progresses at a pace that suits you. We don't want you to feel rushed or pressurised on the one hand, or that it's dragging on the both.

We usually recommend seeing you every 1-2 weeks to begin with, to build momentum.

Once we have made good headway, we usually recommend stretching these out, for example to once every 2-4 weeks.

So, treatment can take anything from a few weeks to a few months.

WHAT HAPPENS ACROSS THE COURSE OF TREATMENT

Your initial session will focus on hearing what it is you want to change. It will also allow you to decide if the psychologist you meet is the right person for you. If not, we can try someone else, we have several.

Next, we want to come up with a plan, made with you, on how to move forward. Hearing your story will help us with the plan. You don't have to tell us everything - just enough to make the plan.

Then we start trying out various ways to improve your life. This can be through discussion, learning new skills, practical tasks or a mixture of these.

As the sessions progress, we will keep reviewing progress and refine what we are doing as we go.

When it seems like we have made enough progress we will discuss bringing our work with you to a close.

By the close we hope you are left feeling better, stronger and content to be finishing at this point.

After this, if you want to, we can touch base with you every now and again to hear how things are going, and provide some top-up support if that is needed.

Please get in touch if you think we might be the right
people for you.
